DCPUManager
DCPUManager is a Mac OSX application to control CPU frequency relative to CPU usage. This application helps saving energy, keeps your CPU cool and keeps your fan mostly quiet.
Requires: ACPICPUThrottle.kext running on your system.
Since ACPICPUThrottle can be controlled only from root mode, this application requires to be given root password at the startup time.
Thanks to prasys and macdotnub for valuable help :)
Installation notes:
- unzip anywhere
- click on application icon
- type in root password
To do:
- need nice application icon and nice big icons for showing current speed (like turtle, rabbit, car, plane, rocket) :) Anybody can help?
- OSX time desyncs like crazy. but maybe only on my CPU? Seems to be kernel bug
- add manual mode to keep desired frequency (easy, but I am lazy)

Why it doesn't work with 8.10.1...
The reason is does not work with does not work with 8.10.1 is because the kernel sources are not available yet, so there is no way to add extra extensions such as this to the kernel.

Icons and Menus
Hi Duddie.
that's a nice little app.
2 little annoying things though :
- speed change takes long to speed up from 800Mhz to 1,8Ghz (I can live with it)
- I have to manually exit the app for OS X to shutdown, when it autoloads with root permissions... (I can live with that too !)
BTW, I noticed there was useless menus fo the app, and you wanted to add icons.
I've fixed this for my personal use, and made an icon using an Intel CPU picture which makes the app look nicer.
Let me know if you want the files (menu.nib and DCPUmanager.icns + modded info.plist), maybe you can use them for future versions...
keep up the good work !!
the DCPUManager v0.5
the DCPUManager v0.5 download link is dead, could you please upload the file again? thanks a lot!

DCPUManager link fixed !
The management software from a manager that barely touches code anymore ;)
Thank You!
Thanks David,
I've replaced the version 0.4 with the 0.5. However, when I choosed 1883 from the pulldown menu, the menu's label still shows "1000", and the frequency seems keep running at 1000. Anyway, thanks for the magical application!
DPCIManager author
I'm trying to find a way to contact the author of DPCIManager, I'm interested in the source as I believe it can help me with a project I'm working on.
Hopefully he comes by and reads this or someone can send him my e-mail address and ask him to contact me.
